The Islanders - Christopher Priest I kept expecting this add up to more than it did. It has a lot of nice elements going for it - the peculiar structure, the gradual evolution of the role of technology, the mystery element, the whimsy, the unusual focus on art and artists of various stripes - but ultimately it got a bit tedious. I have a vague feeling theres a grand explanation there somewhere that if only i'd read with more attention and had been a bit cleverer I would have picked up and it would snap everything into place, but i'm not seeing it right now. Also, whats with all the sexual but inconstant women?
