Shades of Grey: A Novel - Jasper Fforde Much hilarity and carefully nuanced, pitch perfect bizarre. (Bouncing goats that go twonk! The right to wear patterned waistcoats! Global spoon shortage!) well complemented by a shockingly bleak ending and the occasional really devastating silly/sad bit (the library...) Something of the effect of dreaming a particularly odd but extremely sensible dream. Super readable and very well paced, my only complaint might be that all the characters rather have the same mannerisms of eccentric literal minded bluntness all the time, regardless of actual personality or circumstances. Excellent read anyway. Recommended to anyone with a sense of humor.
